Hatteras uses a solution-dyed DuraCord, which equals colorfastness, stain – and mildew-resistance – and long outdoor life. Though made from synthetic yarn, DuraCord yields a cozy, cotton-like fabric. All DuraCord fabrics are custom-designed for our Hatteras Hammocks line. The quilted-fabric hammocks are pillowed-up with polyester fiberfill batting.     14 years, used daily all summer long, and it looks brand new. This is the best, most comfortable hammock I have ever used.

    The construction of this hammock is impressive. The hammock comes with two very large screws and hook you twist into a tree or post (pass a screw driver through the eye and the screw will go right into the wood very easily). Each end of the hammock has a large metal ring and about 12 inches of chain. You use the chain to adjust the hanging tension. From the two big rings, there are many healthy white ropes that pass through the nice thick heavily varnished piece of oak, to heavy duty metal grommets. Those grommets are attached to a very thick layer of heavy duty cloth. The cloth is in turn sewen into the soft cotton quilt of the hammock.

    Comfort of this hammock is incredible. The quilting has just enough soft batting inside each tube that there’s some cushioning. The flip side of the hammock is a solid color.

    This is a luxury beyond imagination. I’ve logged many hours reading, watching movies on my portable DVD player, listening to music, sleeping, or just looking at clouds and the leaves of our 90 year old maple. One of the best investments I’ve ever made in outdoor furniture.
